Can a Power Station Run a Gas Furnace?

A gas furnace won’t run without electricity: the blower fan, igniter and controls all need 120 V. A typical blower runs at around 600 W and needs about 1,400 W to start. In cold weather it might run half of each hour, about 300 W on average.

At that rate a 1,000 Wh power station lasts about 2.8 hours and a 2,000 Wh one about 5.7 hours. Larger batteries or solar help for longer outages.
